PROJECT HRAUNSTEINN: THE ACOUSTIC VESSEL

A kinetic collaboration between SOMMAR, HRAUNSTEINN, and Sweden’s oldest bronze foundry.

In the pursuit of optimizing human environments, scent cannot exist in a vacuum. It requires a medium. Project Hraunsteinn is an environmental bio-hack, a functional sculpture that fuses ancient metallurgy, acoustic healing, and living olfaction.

We sought to create a passive, non-electrical diffuser that would not aggressively heat or destroy our neuro-active molecules. The result is an instrument of deep biological stillness, designed to anchor your space and reset your nervous system.

FREQUENCY THERAPY

The Bio-hack: Each bowl is physically unique, each possesses its own distinct resonant frequency.

Specific frequencies stimulate the vagus nerve, lower cortisol, and guide brainwaves into restorative Alpha or Theta states. The Hraunsteinn vessel is designed to be struck lightly before scenting. The resulting acoustic vibration pre-conditions your nervous system, allowing the brain to optimally receive the healing properties of the fragrance.

Our philosophy of individualised biology means no two vessels are alike. Hand-cast by Sweden’s oldest bronze foundry, the density, rim curvature, and metallurgical distribution are subtly altered in every single bowl.

Resting inside the acoustic bronze chamber are raw, hand-foraged Hraunsteinn Nordic volcanic stones.

Born from extreme geothermal pressure, these highly porous, carbon-rich stones serve as the ultimate organic diffusion matrix. Unlike synthetic diffusers that use electricity or heat which fractures delicate botanical compounds, the volcanic stones absorb the SOMMAR pure parfum and release the neuro-active botanicals slowly, coldly, and entirely intact. Furthermore, lava stones are naturally grounding, possessing a high thermal mass that provides a profound sense of physical permanence to any room.
A NEW FRAGRANCE RITUAL

01. The Strike: Lightly strike the edge of the bronze bowl. Allow the unique acoustic frequency to wash over the room, interrupting mental loops and shifting your somatic baseline.

02. The Pour: Pour 3 to 5 drops of your chosen SOMMAR neuro-active extract over the dark volcanic stones.

03. The Diffusion: As the living scent molecules interact with the porous lava rock, they naturally diffuse into the air over 48 hours, silently altering the atmospheric biology of your space.
